All Ports at a Glance

Lanzarote's ferry network is small but busy: a short, very frequent hop to Fuerteventura, a longer link to Gran Canaria, and a weekly crossing from mainland Spain. On the Lanzarote side, sailings use two different harbours – Playa Blanca in the south and Arrecife, the island's capital. On the Fuerteventura side, ferries arrive at Corralejo in the north of the island.

Playa Blanca – the frequent island hop

Playa Blanca, on Lanzarote's southern coast, is a purpose-built resort town and the island's gateway to Fuerteventura. Four operators – Fred Olsen Express, Naviera Armas, Balearia and Líneas Marítimas Romero – share the short crossing to Corralejo, which takes about 25 minutes on the Fred Olsen Express fast craft or around 35 minutes on conventional ferries. Combined, the operators run an extremely frequent service: on a single day checked live, 32 sailings per direction were on offer. See the full Playa Blanca port guide.

Arrecife – Lanzarote's capital and main harbour

Arrecife is Lanzarote's capital and largest town, and its harbour is the island's main commercial port – the one used for the longer routes and bigger vessels. From here, Naviera Armas and Balearia sail to Las Palmas on Gran Canaria (roughly 5 to 6.5 hours, around five times a week), and Naviera Armas sails the long haul to Cádiz on the Spanish mainland (about 26 hours, roughly once a week) – the standard way to bring your own car or motorhome to Lanzarote. See the full Arrecife port guide.

Corralejo – the Fuerteventura side

Corralejo, in the north of Fuerteventura, is the port that receives the Playa Blanca ferries. It is a resort town in its own right and also known as the gateway to the Isla de Lobos nature reserve just offshore. The same four operators serve this side of the crossing. See the full Corralejo port guide.

Which Port Do You Need?

If you are island-hopping between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, you will use Playa Blanca or Corralejo – whichever is your starting point. If you are heading further afield to Gran Canaria or bringing a vehicle from mainland Spain, you need Arrecife, Lanzarote's main harbour.
