Three very different crossings: a shuttle-frequency hop to Fuerteventura, a proper inter-island sea voyage to Gran Canaria, and a weekly mainland crossing from Cádiz for anyone bringing their own car or motorhome. Compare them below and find the right one for your trip.
Lanzarote sits at the northeastern end of the Canary Islands, close enough to Fuerteventura for a short island hop and connected onward to Gran Canaria and, for those bringing their own vehicle, all the way back to mainland Spain. The three routes below cover very different journeys – from a 25-minute shuttle to a 26-hour mainland crossing – so the right choice depends on where you are starting from and whether you are travelling with a car or motorhome.
The map shows the two inter-island routes. The Cádiz–Arrecife mainland crossing runs roughly 1,000 km southwest and isn't shown to scale here – see the Cádiz route page for details.
| Route | Crossing time | Operators | Frequency | Foot from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Playa Blanca → Corralejo | ~25 min | Fred Olsen Express, Naviera Armas, Balearia, LMR | 30+ sailings/day combined | ~€33 |
| Arrecife → Las Palmas | ~5–6.5 h | Naviera Armas, Balearia | ~5×/week | ~€50–80 |
| Cádiz → Arrecife | ~26 h | Naviera Armas | ~1×/week | fares vary – vehicle-focused |
Prices are indicative guide values for a single foot passenger; several sources disagree on the Arrecife–Las Palmas fare range specifically, so always check the live search on the homepage for your exact date.
If you want to see Fuerteventura from a Lanzarote base – or the reverse – Playa Blanca–Corralejo is the obvious choice. With up to 30 or more sailings a day across four operators, it is frequent enough to plan a same-day return without much advance booking.
If Gran Canaria is on your itinerary, the Arrecife–Las Palmas ferry gets you there without flying – but budget five to six and a half hours at sea, and check the sailing days in advance, since it does not run daily.
If you want your own vehicle on Lanzarote rather than a rental, the Cádiz–Arrecife crossing is the standard route – a roughly 26-hour, once-a-week sailing built for exactly that purpose. It is a genuine multi-day journey, closer to a mini-cruise or cargo-passenger ferry than a typical short crossing, so it needs more planning than the island hops.
These three routes sit at completely different ends of the frequency scale: Playa Blanca–Corralejo runs like a shuttle, Arrecife–Las Palmas around five times a week, and Cádiz–Arrecife about once a week. Always check the live schedule for the specific route before finalising other travel plans around it.
